This imposing villa, built in 1913, with its image-defining location in the center of the resort is a perfectly preserved example of vacation architecture dating from the early days of De Haan.
It concerns, as it were, a time document from this elite early-tourist period of the seaside resort, this means the period from shortly before the turn of the century until the outbreak of the First World War.
This villa, built by and for the local architect Neirynck is a successful and perfectly preserved example of cottage architecture with Norman influences.
The architectural elaboration of this cottage is characterized by: the alternating roof play; the recessed and projecting wall sections such as bay windows, balconies, the loggia, the cantilevered gable tops, among others; the combined use of imitation rubble stone for the plinth, with brick and imitation half-timbering in the gable top; the well-kept woodwork such as the bay window, the chimney pieces and the bracing in the gable top, the joinery with small window sections.
The cottage also preserves a number of preserved interior elements such as, among others, the staircase, the doors, a fireplace with wall cabinets and the remarkable parlor in the basement with the typical imitation brick and stone painting.
